Zimanga Bird Photography

11th August 2014
I spent a couple of days at Zimanga Private Game reserve, a relatively new reserve for photographers and the big attraction at Zimanga currently are the two bird photographic hides that have been built on the reserve, there are more hides on the way. The hides have been built by Charl Senekal in consultation with Bence Mate, a well know International Wildlife Photographer who has built many photographic hides similar to the ones in Zimanga. I did not know what to expect but I must say that it was a great experience, the Bhejane hide is designed for the afternoon light and here there is a chance to photograph the Elusive Pink Throated Twinspot, Mkhombe Hide was built for the early morning light and it is spectacular, each hide can only accommodate 4 photographers with all their gear and tripods, you can also do game drives at Zimanga and the attraction is a pack of Wild dogs as well as a number of Cheetah, I only spent time in the hides and I did not do any drives.
